Unity Intro: Please Say Hello to Ms. Miles, new OUHS Assistant Principal

Ms Miles has over 15 years of experience in education, including school leadership work in San Jose, Atlanta, and the Dominican Republic. She is originally from Palm Beach, Fl and also speaks Spanish.

As the new Dean of Students, Ms. Miles will be working closely with the entire school community in assuring the success of all Unity scholars!  It is important to Ms. Miles that all students feel empowered, are actively engaged, and take ownership in their learning experience. This means that your voice matters to her! She also has an “open door” policy, so feel free to stop by the Admin office.

You may have also noticed that our school campus looks extra fresh and clean this week, and this was due to Ms. Miles’ hard work as Facilities Lead this summer. We take pride in our school, and Ms. Miles wanted our facilities to better match how we feel about our learners and the Unity community!

Please say hello and introduce yourself if you see her around campus.

The day before the first day of school, 9th graders from the OUHS Class of 2020 came together at Lake Merritt for a morning of fun and community building. 9th graders and 9th grade Advisors created Advisory banners, twisted and untwisted human knots, and competed for the Dragon Boat racing championship of the world. To the winner goes the first slices of pizza! Thanks to all 9th grade Advisors, Ms Miles, and Ms Leon for making this happen.
