Congratulations to the girls’ soccer team for their tough win over BACSAC B League champions ARISE. After a 1-1 tie in regulation, Unity won 4-2 on penalty kicks. They will onto the semi-finals against rival Lighthouse. The game will take place at 4 PM on Tuesday 5/14 at Raimondi Field in west Oakland.

The baseball fell in their rematch to LPS-Hayward, after beating LPH in the regular season finale. As a result, Unity was eliminated from the playoffs. The team has nothing to be ashamed about, reaching the semi-finals in only their second year of existence and showing tremendous growth over this season. We look forward to reaching new heights next year!

Congratulations to Nori Dubon and Juan Carlos Rodriguez who will be going to Uruguay and Stephanie Gonzalez who will be going to Nicaragua for the summer as part of The Amigos de las Americas program.

“AMIGOS programs are founded on partnerships with local agencies that are carrying out ongoing work in communities in our host countries. Our partner agencies have two things in common. First, they are carrying out ongoing work to promote community development in their countries. Second, they support our efforts to foster youth leadership, engage youth in community service and promote cross-cultural exchange in the Americas.”

Congratulations also go out to Yessica Muniz and Jennifer Franco who were both accepted to The Smith Summer Science and Engineering program in Northampton, MA!

“The Smith Summer Science and Engineering Program (SSEP) is a four-week residential program for exceptional young women with strong interests in science, engineering and medicine. Each July, select high school students from across the country and abroad come to Smith College to do hands-on research with Smith faculty in the life and physical sciences and in engineering.”

Congratulations and we look forward to seeing what your peers will be doing this summer!
