Examenes Finales Semestre 1 (no ASP). Por favor recuerde a todos los estudiantes a estudiar y dormir mucho, para que puedan hacer bien en sus exámenes finales. Los estudiantes de asesoramiento de la Sra. Grant estaran  vendiendo  desayuno para recaudar fondos para alivio del terremoto en Haití, para que los estudiantes deben llegar temprano (07:45 am) para el desayuno. Los estudiantes saldran a las  11:30. Algunos estudiantes estarán obligados a quedarse hasta las 12:00 del mediodía a petición de sus funciones de asesoramiento.

Los resultados 2009-2010 Intercesión a Oakland Unity High School. Durante estos dos días, los estudiantes estarán en varios talleres en  la escuela de 08.15 am – 3:00 pm, y otros serán fuera de la escuela que participan en las actividades. Para los estudiantes que están fuera de la escuela en las actividades, por favor revise los detalles sobre el permiso y  transporte y el tiempo de la información. La escuela es obligatoria para estos días, y todos los estudiantes se espera que estén en la escuela.

Last day of regular classes and After School program

Monday, January 25 – Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Semester 1 Finals (no ASP).  Please remind all students to study and get plenty of sleep so they can do well on their final exams.  Students from Ms. Grant’s advisory will be selling breakfast to raise funds for Haiti earthquake relief, so students should arrive early (07:45 am) for breakfast.  Students will be released at 11:30 am.  Some students will be required to stay until 12:00 noon if requested by their advisory.

The 2009-2010 Intersession returns to Oakland Unity High School.  During these two days, students will be in various workshops on campus from 08:15 am – 3:00 pm, and others will be off-campus participating in activities.  For students that are off-campus, please review the details on permission slips for transportation and time information.  School is mandatory for these days, and all students are expected to be in school.

Semester 1 Finals “Study Survivor” is coming!

As we approach Semester 1 finals exams, Unity teachers have organized the first annual “Study Survivor”. Students will be quizzed in all content areas and have been working hard in grade level / content specific groups for the past two weeks preparing for the competition. The best thing is that as long as students study, everyone wins!

Lick Wilmerding Parents’ Association volunteers at Oakland Unity High School on “MLK Day of Service”

Lick Wilmerding Parents’ Association volunteered at Oakland Unity High School on “MLK Day of Service”.  The Oakland Unity High School community would like to thank the Lick Wilmerding community for their dedication and hard work.  Over 20 volunteers from the Lick Wilmerding Parents’ Association and students battled the weather and spent the day (Monday, January 18) working on various projects on the Unity campus.  We hope to continue this relationship with Lick Wilmerding in the future.

Unity juniors visit Angel Island for cross-curricular (Art/US History/English 11) study tour

Unity juniors visited Angel Island in January for a cross-curricular (Art/US History/English 11) study tour.  Students learned about immigration as part of the US History curriculum.  Other assignments for Art and English 11 were also connected to the visit.  Pictures can be found here:

Oakland Unity High School juniors visit Washington D.C.

Oakland Unity High School juniors visited Washington D.C. in December 2009.  The trip was organized through Close Up (www.closeup.org) and was led by Ms. Grant and Mr. Zarazua.  This learning experience was beneficial for our students on many levels.

Unity students:

-Learned about our country’s past, present, and future

-Watched our legislative process in action on Capitol Hill

-Debated current events

-Met with other students from around the country

-Met with elected officials and their respective staff

-Visited the national monuments and museums in Washington D.C.
