Oakland Unity High School’s strong trend of academic growth continues

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Congratulations to all Oakland Unity High School students, teachers, staff, families, and community. We have made significant gains on the API (Academic Performance Index) and we’ve also met our AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) targets. All of your hard work is paying off!

API (Academic Performance Index)
The California Department of Education calculates an API score for all public schools in California based on results from the California Standards Test and the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE). The score can range from 200-1000.

Oakland Unity High School’s 2011 API is 735. Our 2011 API growth was 36 points (API growth target was 5). This is the fourth consecutive year of API growth (139 points!!).

Our significant subgroups include the following:
SD – Socioeconomically Disadvantaged
H/L – Hispanic or Latino
E/L – English Language Learners

In these three categories, our subgroups outperformed the California statewide average for the similar subgroups.

On behalf of the Oakland Unity High School administration, thank you for your hard work and for believing in yourselves.
