Dear Oakland Unity High School community members:

Mr. Castillo has decided to transition to a new position with the California Charter Schools Association. He will continue to strongly advocate for all charters in Oakland, including Oakland Unity. Under his leadership, the school has reached many important milestones including:

· Four year academic growth of 140 points on the API. Currently the highest performing 9-12 high school in Oakland.

· Average of 70% of graduates accepted to four year colleges.

· Two successful charter renewals with OUSD.

· Oakland Unity is a highly respected educational institution.

Leaving Oakland Unity was not an easy decision for Mr. Castillo, but please be assured that the school is in great hands. Mr. Sam Brewer will serve as Principal and Mr. Daniel Zarazua will serve as Assistant Principal. Both leaders are looking forward to working with students, parents, and community, continuing the great work at Oakland Unity.
